Nammed 2026 Benefit and Contribution Changes
Tue, 2 Dec 2025
Dear Valued Member,
As we approach a new benefit year, we’re excited to share the enhancements and updates that will take effect from 1 January 2026. These changes are designed with one goal in mind: to give more back to you, our members, by ensuring your medical aid remains competitive, sustainable, and responsive to your evolving healthcare needs.
What’s Changing – And Why It Matters
Increased Benefits Across the Board
We’re raising benefit limits across all options—most by 3.7% or more—to help you get more value from your cover. Highlights include:
Higher day-to-day and acute medication limits on Comprehensive and Active options.
Removal of co-payments for specialised radiology (MRI, CT, Bone Density) on Standard, Essential, and Active options.
Increased oncology and radiotherapy cover on Essential (up to N$700,000) and unlimited overall annual limits on Trauma.
Optical benefits on Active are now separated from day-to-day limits, giving you more benefits and flexibility.
Better Travel & Accommodation Support
We’ve significantly increased sub-limits for non-emergency travel and accommodation benefits to better reflect real-world costs:
Road travel: Up to N$4,000 (SA) and N$3,000 (Namibia)
Air travel: Up to N$5,200 (both Namibia and SA)
Accommodation: Up to N$750 per night
This ensures members who need to travel for treatment are better supported. This is paid from the non-emergency travel benefit.
Smarter Dental & Orthodontic Benefits
To ensure long-term sustainability and clinical relevance:
Topical fluoride application is now limited to every 180 days.
Oral hygiene instruction is limited to once per lifetime.
Dentures are limited to one set every 3 years for members aged 12+.
Orthodontic treatment is now limited to once per lifetime per member.
These changes are based on clinical research and best practices to ensure fair and effective use of benefits and to reduce waste and abuse.
More Competitive Cover
We’ve aligned key benefits with market trends to ensure you’re getting the best value:
Overall annual limits increased across options by 3.7%.
Specialised medication and chronic drug lists updated.
New stoma products added under medical appliances.
Contribution Adjustments – Still Among the Lowest in the Market
To support these benefit enhancements, and upon review of the different risk pools’ claims ratio, a modest contribution increase will apply:
4.00% for risk pool private members
4.50% for risk pool employer groups
3.75% for risk pool large employer groups
3.75% for basic option across all groups
The above reflects a weighted average increase of 4%. We remain committed to affordability and value, ensuring your contributions directly support better benefits and improved access to care.
